Chichen-itza Students
will learn the basics of black-and-white and color digital photography
in the beautiful Mexican state of Yucatan. Its inhabitants are descendents
of the Mayan Culture and still occupy the peninsula from Guatemala to
the limits of the Gulf of Mexico. The Mayas, in addition to Spanish,
still speak their native tongue and continue living in their traditional
ways that date back thousands of years. The area is well known for its
archaeological treasures, traditions, Spanish colonial influences which
are exemplified in the pyramids of Chichen Itza, Uxmal, and the beautiful
cities of Merida, Isamal and Valladolid.
Izamal From
our base in the capital of Merida we will explore the history, culture,
and landscapes of the area. Several
activities are planned to explore the area's rich cultural traditions
and geography.
The ADVENTURE PHOTOGRAPHIC TOUR begins in the colonial city of Merida, capital of Yucatan. Photographers will check into their hotel here in Merida and will work out of the studio of Andrew Xenios. From there, they will visit ruins, haciendas, small pueblos, the local costal areas and hidden side treasures known by locals and Mr. Xenios.
There are daily critiques and instructions on exposure, content, adjustments, and presentation of photographs. Students need only their cameras and laptop if available, but not necessary.
